"In the first age forest spread over all of Eridor and Calenardhon - this arboreal empire was a haven for many of the good folk of Arda, including the mighty ents.
Yet during Sauron's war against the elves the trees were felled and the ents were forced to take refuge in what little if the forest remained, biding thier time and dreaming of ages past.

This last remnant of the ancient forest us known by many names, among them Fangorn, Zirsîndarthur and Ambaróna."
